RACCF and the Orlando Russian Culture Society hosted a joint even on April 24, 2011 to celebrate the Paskha weekend and recognize the historic importance of the 50th anniversary of Mankind’s entrance into space. April was the month in 1961 when Yuri Gagarin made that first historic trip into space, circling the earth for 108 minutes. 20 years later the first Space Shuttle, Columbia, was launched.
Children created several art works to commemorate the occasion, and the winners with the best drawings were given prizes at the Picnic, followed by an ice cream bonus prize for all participants.. Adults enjoyed cooking Shashlik, socializing and enjoying the warm weather.
